Put your clothes in a particular place
Do not act like some persons that are fond of littering the floor of the house with clothes, or flinging them over the couch, either before they leave the house or just the moment they enter the room. No matter how tired you are or hurried you might be with things, your home would not always be in a bad shape if you make the extra effort to tidy up your clothes by putting them in their proper place.
Depending on where you choose to put them, you could use the clothes closet or wardrobe, which is the normal storage place or you can place them in the laundry. Putting clothes in the right places would definitely save you a lot of time and spare you the trouble of having to search for a missing vest, or underwear that you urgently need to complete your dressing.
It is good that put your papers in the right location
Your home would not be in good trim if you decide to ignore putting in their proper place such as a file, papers that you have intentionally or unintentionally put here and there around your home. Properly filing your bills, letters, documents, etc, would really help you to easily access them when the need arises.
Make sure you sanitize or clean up the surfaces that you are using
The surfaces could be a sink, kitchen range or a buffet in your home. When you use these surfaces for activities such as brushing of teeth, preparing meals, putting on make-up, etc, certain stains and dirt are left behind which may gradually deface these surfaces and make them to become unattractive.
Barring the effect of aging, the appearance of these surfaces can hardly remain the same as a result of stains. These surfaces can be a blot on your home, if you don’t cultivate the habit of conducting regular cleaning exercises. This usually does not take so much time to do and which can be quite rewarding as it keeps your home surroundings not only clean but free of germs and bacterial.
Having more than is required of something can be unnecessary
You should not always try to keep the surpluses of anything. As they are of no use to you, they may as well be discarded or given to someone else who needs them. Otherwise, your home will gradually turn to one that is full of useless gadgets. Here is an example of someone, who has decided to make his home as comfortable and uncomplicated as possible, by not keeping everything.
On a certain day, as he was at home tidying up the loft or attic, he chanced upon about 30 sets of Christmas lights that can provide a sufficient amount of lights for even more than 3 trees. Having checked them all, he kept the functioning ones for use, gave out the ones he did not need to someone, and then disposes the faulty ones.
Use your bed for what it was made for
Some people have the inclination to trash their bed with all kinds of stuff. There was a lady who complained about her mother for being such a stasher as she always has some items on her bed. She always has issues with this attitude of her mother. She wondered how someone can be able to sleep peacefully and comfortably on a bed littered with all sorts of items, without waking up every now and then. Wouldn’t your sleep be interrupted if you happen to roll on one of those stuffs on the bed? Well, maybe not, in the case of her mother.
All the same, this is really an unfortunate case of a bed misuse. Ideally, a bed should be used for what reason it was made. This basically includes sleeping, relaxation and possibly sitting. It is really not proper to turn it to some kind of storage piece of furniture. You shouldn’t see your bed as an extension of your wardrobe, where you can put in clothes and some other fittings. Otherwise, extend your wardrobe or just go get yourself a bigger one.
Your pillows and blankets may be one too many
Pillows and blankets can also be used to beautify your bedroom besides their basic use for sleeping and relaxation. But some persons can be so elaborate with the use of these bed trappings. Some persons can go as far as decking their beds with several pillows that they may not need. There is an instance, where a certain housekeeper witnessed well over 10 pillows on the bed of a particular house she tended. This seems too much, even for a king-sized bed.
One wonders whether sleeping on such pillow-ladened bed would not smother those sleeping on it. In addition, if you have pillows and blankets that are way above the numbers that you need, there is every possibility that you would not be able to handle all of them as some would drop to the floor. And that is not a good sight to behold.
You should at least keep a certain number of pillows and blankets that are just enough for your use. And make sure you do away with your old pillows by giving it out to someone you feel are in need of it. You may as well offer the used blankets to a local animal shelter. Doing this, would make your bed much more inviting or attractive to lay on and less cumbersome to dress or put together whenever you need to.
Develop the habit of making your bed on a daily basis
A messed up or disheveled bed just gives your bedroom an unkempt appearance. So cultivate the habit of making or dressing your bed as often as possible.
Endeavor to place your shoes and jackets in the right place
Some people, out of plain carelessness are fond of scattering shoes all around the house. This does make the home look messy.
Your house would look more pleasing to the eye by simply removing your shoes just before entering the house, dust them and place them in a shoebox or closet as the case may be. When you do this, you are not only preventing all kinds of dirt and germs from entering your house but you would also be making your doormat and front entrance attractive and pleasant to likely visitors.
Always wash your dishes or place them in the dishwasher after use
It is really not proper for you to dump dirty dishes in the sink rather than the dish washer, even though the dishwasher still has enough space for one or more dishes. What then is the right thing to do? Simply sponge down the dish, and place the dish into the dishwasher.
It’s best you operate the dishwasher just before going to bed so that in the morning your dishes would have been cleaned up for your use and safekeeping. You should also apply the same procedure to your cooking utensils, pans and pots. Observing this regularly would surely leave your buffet or counter dirt free, hygienic and well-arranged for later use.
Ensure you remove things after making use of them
You should endeavor to always put whatever things you use in their proper place as doing this would easily help you to find and access them when you need to. This helps especially if there are many users of that particular object or thing, as everyone would easily know how to reach for it because it is in a definite location. So this somewhat makes your home orderly.
Clean up the house on a regular basis
As often as you can, conduct a cleaning or maintenance program on your home. Vacuuming your house as often as possible is even more important especially when you have pets. Try to remove dirt from around your house at least on a weekly basis.
I bet your house and stuff would be more sanitized and wear a fresher look if you make the effort to vacuum and dust it every week. In the long run, this will spare you the time that you would have used or taken to clean up the house in a super way, when there is need to.
It somewhat makes you to show respect to those around you
It is simply good neighborliness to keep your home well-maintained and clean. This goes to show that you value or regard for the people that live around you and who are incidentally your neighbors. It is also an indication of a show of respect to the natural world or environment in which you live in and which you seek to sustain by your simple act of routine cleaning exercises.
